Los Exitosos Pells / Episode 4

Wednesday's recap.

We start with Nuñez and her right hand Juan aboard a band. Her idea is to infiltrate him as a cleaning worker inside Mega News so he can have access to information regarding Martin Pells.

With a Regina Spektor song (that is beautiful!) we see sequences of different characters: Nacho with Lily in bed, Daniela by herself, Amanda dropping off her son at school but paying more attention to work than him (I almost cried with that), Tomas crying over pictures of Martin, Gonzalo getting ready and watching Sol work out with fascination.

This leads to a staff meeting, where everyone’s got happy faces…except Daniela. And this all unfolds as Nuñez implants Juan inside the network. He’s bugged and carries a micro camera in his uniform as she watches from the van. Now the meeting has Sol and Diego as well…joined later by Martin/Gonzalo and Sergio. Sol delivers an ‘I hate you’ look at him that was so clear, and Planes storms off offended.

Nuñez gives Juan instructions on where he should go (being super clumsy in the process of blending) as Sergio asks Gonzalo what happened with Sol, and Diego goes straight to Franco to demand more recognition since he’s kept his mouth shut all this time. As they drink whiskey, Andrada replies that the success shouldn’t fall on only one person and starts explaining he wants to retake an old project that could involve Diego

Gonzalo goes to Amanda to see if, through her he can learn more about the life of Pells, but it’s a waste of time. So he and Sergio scan the dressing room and the latter finds a letter that has Sol’s handwriting on it. After a brief interruption from Charly, they read it. It’s a love letter to Martin.

Diego goes to the cafeteria and talks with Nacho (who later says that he was with Lily, but doesn’t want to go in detail) and Alvaro about the show he’s been offered just as Sol comes in, asking for coffee. All she tells Diego is to not fly so high because the fall could hurt. As this unfolds, Nuñez keeps giving Juan instructions as the guy at the van with her…you could say he starts taking advantage of the situation. As that happens, Juan reaches the office as Franco has just left. He didn’t have time to do anything because Franco and Amanda head back inside and start talking intimately as Nuñez feels grossed out by the scene of them making out. So what does she do? Go figure.

Sol and Diego have an argument inside her dressing room about how she feels used by him so he could get a spot. She asks him to leave and he says they are done as Gonzalo hears all this pretending to be talking on the phone. When the door’s open, she’s all tough, but as soon as it closes she’s crying.

Alvaro goes to Daniela so she can cover up a cut he has. As she disinfects it, they start gossiping, but when it gets to the Nacho-Lily overnight stay, she accidentally spills alcohol spray in his eyes. She’s heartbroken, so what does she do? She goes to Sol for advice and consolation, but she’s more focused on herself and her issues. Daniela scolds her about it, and cynically Sol tells Daniela to talk about her situation, but she refuses.

Wow…Amanda can sing! She’s watching a musical, but is interrupted by Gonzalo, who still wants to know about Pells’ past, based on the letter he shows as negotiation after she keeps on insisting there’s no chance for demands. She says that they had something, but it wasn’t corresponded because he wanted a spot over her. Of course, she’ll deny it and there’s no evidence because Franco got rid of it. Of course, Amanda destroys the letter and puts out a warning to him to do his job.

As Juan continues to search for a contract, it’s all chaos in Mega News: Sol has a diva fit, Daniela’s mad, Lily’s hysterical and Charly still can’t find a thing to do. On air, Sol screws up big time but Gonzalo saves her in a cute way with the letter elements. From the switch (where Alvaro is blamed for the ‘technical difficulties’), rating’s going up anyways. Could Diego’s presence on the set have anything to do with this disaster?

Nuñez is exhausted and drinking as Juan finds the contract in a drawer, but that doesn’t have Martin’s signature, thing that back in her channel her suspicions go way up. Back home, Sol thanks Gonzalo/Martin for covering for her today, and that seemed to hurt her. He gives her his jacket and tries that they eat or drink something together, but she refuses. The man’s in love, and he’s happy to sniff her scent in his jacket. Sol is heartbroken, she tries to call Diego (who ignores her) and Daniela (with whom she has to apologize about her behavior earlier). The woman needs someone to console her, and much to her surprise, Gonzalo brings her a tray with hot cocoa. (Off topic note: I LOVE her shoes!). She seems really impressed with his gesture and assures him she won’t spill it the same way it was with the champagne. This leads to a conversation about past times when they were like two teenagers in love (flashbacks included), and when she broke his heart (looks to me she saw the signs of him being gay). But instead he’ll cook for her, and she can taste the cigarette smoke smell. Sol swears he’ll ask for something (in Pells’ nature), but Gonzalo is happy with just seeing her enjoy.

Daniela’s home alone, and decides to call Nacho as he’s home. Lily calls from the network, saying she’ll go there in 15 minutes after calling it a day. He has to tell Daniela they’ll meet some other day. Tomas calls Gonzalo, and the actor is way more attracted by Sol’s figure…A Kodak moment ruined by the dog. Tomas, on the other hand, is infuriated that his boyfriend hung up on him.

Sergio gets to the Pells residence, and they have a talk (Gonzalo also says he wants to smoke), and Sol is surprised to see him there. Amanda gets to Franco’s office and sees him preoccupied with the whole Gonzalo situation, that he thinks it’s going way too fast. A sense of distrust, maybe? Neither him nor Amanda know what to do. Ricardo (the attorney) comes in, sees their faces and asks what’s wrong.

The couple gets to the network, and everyone is onto him. Sergio and Charly have a little encounter, and as his informant, he lets Tomas know about that. Nuñez, on the other hand, wants to know more about Diego Planes and maybe use him to her advantage.

Tomas is such a drama queen! At the first signal of disaster, he has to go to his dad and threatens him that he’ll speak unless Martin is back with him tonight. The man wants to fight for him, still thinking Sergio is gay. I don’t like Tomas, but at least Franco promises him that and he’s happy. The situation is later discussed with Amanda. Meanwhile, Sol meets up with Diego, because she wants to talk to him, but she’s ignored. Two that want to talk (or more) are Lily and Nacho…busted by Alvaro, who happens to be passing by. Daniela and Diego seemed to be the dumped ones as Sol and Martin share a coffee. Ricardo, sadly, has to take him away. Gonzalo IS anxious and desperate with the situation, and to top it off Franco has to inform him that he’ll have to comply with going back to Tomas. Of course, Gonzalo refuses and starts threatening Andrada, who threatens back. Out, he talks to Sergio about his unhappiness. Hey, at least he manages to get a cigarette.

If only Tomas hadn’t arrived so that he could talk to him about everything that has happened and that he lacks attention. To dissimulate, Sergio is the smoker. In another matter, Nacho and Daniela talk about their thing when Sol comes in. I find it funny that Gonzalo will be capable of anything just to get a cigarette…even go talk to Amanda. Pleading her because he’s going crazy with all this. Amanda has to calm him down so that he doesn’t insist on that, but I’m sorry. That’s not working.

Diego is about to go on the air, and he wants people to talk about him (comment to Nacho), as Sergio is summoned by Amanda. She has called a doctor so that Gonzalo can quit smoking, and all he gets is her gratitude, thing that disappoints him...What I missed was that he’ll have to pose as Gonzalo (whose anxiety is obvious now to everyone at Mega News), but he seems more attracted by the doc rather than instructions. By the way, Planes looks like a joke on camera but Nuñez still is interested on talking to him. For those matters, they meet at a bar and she starts praising him before bringing up an offer: She’ll give him information so that he grows inside Mega News before she hires him. For that, he seems willing to try it out

Casp stop ad.

Sol gets inside Diego’s dressing room to talk to him, but it’s useless. Then she goes to Daniela, but she’s still upset by the way she treated her the other day. As they talk, Amanda comes in to ask if anyone has seen Martin…Sorry, Gonzalo, who is now more anxious than ever. This only proves Mike Amigorena is one hell of an actor. Lily comes inside his dressing room and finds him in a state of shock. When he’s on set, he looks like he’ll faint because all is blurry around him. Of course, Franco & Co. are watching worried. And the outcome is that…next episode we’ll find out how it went on the air.

You wanted news? Now you have them. Till next episode!
