Los Exitosos Pells / Episode 2

Hi guys!

OK, here's what supposed to be tomorrow's recap, but since I have radio all day I won't have the time to update anything. Enjoy it, and see you on tuesday.

Gotta say that, between the credit sequence (that is even cooler) and the scenes of Buenos Aires (Puerto Madero, to be more specific) it makes it all the more awesome.

Well, we pick it up from where we left it off: Gonzalo’s WTF face and Tomas happy that his boyfriend is back…and with a gay party to welcome him back. LOL, he’s like ‘what have I got myself into?’. He speaks to Amanda, and he had no idea Pells was gay. I feel sorry for Gonzalo, and he wants out immediately. Amanda tries to calm him down and says she’s on her way.

Sol is watching news and she’s pretty disgusted by what she sees. “I hate him”. So simple, and I’m sure Planes feels the same way.

At the office, Franco is talking to Daniela (the makeup artist and Sol’s best friend) and Charly (Martin’s assistant) about how things will be now that Pells/Gonzalo is back. And the two of them are the only ones who know that this marriage is a fraud.

Back at Tomas’ place, they’re at the party, listening to Depeche Mode as Sol and Diego are together, neither wanting to talk about Martin. Diego wants him that she speaks to Franco, who in turn is talking to Amanda about Tomas and that Gonzalo isn’t happy about that. But since he’s an actor he improvises by starting to dance off to Madonna and trying to fit in his surroundings as best as he can.

Diego is pushing Sol into demanding her own terms, and also letting that between the lines he gets the position he believes he deserves, and it goes on and on forever and ever. He is using her, and he thinks she’s still in love with Martin. But the only person with power in the network is Franco, and if he sinks, everyone goes down with him. Meanwhile, the party goes on, and I honestly think that he’s drunk, desperate and miserable. But they’re saved by the bell…Amanda and Franco, better said. He just wants out of there, or cry.

Andrada pushes him aside to talk about him not quitting as Amanda is with Tomas, who is demanding to know the truth. Amanda comes up with the idea that Martin contracted a virus and that he can’t have any type of contact until he recovers (to avoid Gonzalo freaks out). Franco says he won’t get off so easily because that was in the contract neither him nor Sergio read. So a desperate Gonzalo heads to the balcony and finds salvation in a pack of cigarettes and a lighter. Wanting one more than anything he grabs it but Amanda takes it away from him. All because Pells is allergic to smoke.

Diego faces Sol and says that she doesn’t have enough courage, leading to a fight that has Planes walks away as, back as Tomas’ place, the couple is left alone and he looks bummed. Amanda has managed to fix the situation once again, but she’s quite a bitch! Loving her.
At the competition, Nuñez has called her staffers for a meeting to see what they have found on Pells. She’s pissed that she’ll have to do it all by herself, firing a person in the process.

Tomas and Martin are finally alone and he wants to know why Martin is taking forever in the bathroom. If he only knew…Pells looked that he was more gay than what I imagined, and Tomas can notice he’s stressed because he has forgotten all his routines.

Sol is a nostalgia mood because it takes us to a flashback (with Cat Power music) when Sol met Martin and how she was deeply in love with him like two teenagers (two observations: 1) Amanda made the mistake of Sol’s last name again and 2) What is up with her hair?!)…and how he confessed his homosexuality to her, breaking her heart. Gonzalo can’t sleep, so he manages to sneak out and call Sergio to meet him.

But there is a problem: The world mistakes him as Pells, so he gets a martini served and people ask him for an autograph. Sergio actually arrives, and I won. He didn’t read the contract, so neither know that part allows them to get free. So he explains the situation, but in a private place where he can have some liberty to smoke and be barefoot, instead of the attention at the bar. It involves Franco, Tomas and Sol. Kids, read before signing anything.

Gonzalo wakes up next to Sol very lovingly…but it was all a dream, because it’s Tomas who he woke up with. He wears the overall and everything, since he has to go back to work and continue the scam. I like how Sol looks today. It’s another day at the office. The first duty on hold is Franco handing him a copy of the contract to read. Bastard is watching from behind, and the contract DID specify it all!!

Calminerv ad. I could use a few of those to the vein.

We are in Sol’s morning show as everybody is watching. Is it me or do they all look affected by her speech? Camera’s off and she’s freezing.

Easy defec ad. And Charly wants to mess with the control switch

Franco, Amanda and Ricardo return to the office to discuss the terms of the contract. It’s time to tell him the truth: The apartment Pells (who is in a coma) is at is under Gonzalo’s name and has his possessions. If he turns his back on them, they’ll go to the public to say he’s a scam artist. As Franco said, he’s between two prisons, and he has to choose because his odds against them aren’t so good.

Tomas is at the studio making some work with the lights and bumps onto Sol so they can head to the studio together. Sol trips and Gonzalo goes to assist her. She wants to kill him and Tomas is jealous. She leaves the set, where Daniela looks after her.
Martin/Gonzalo heads to the outside, wanting nothing more than to have a smoke. A man gets off a van and he asks if he has a cigarette. Instead he is shoved inside a van where Nuñez is waiting for him. Of course, he’s never seen this lady before, who claims he used her to negotiate a contract, since she’s been waiting for 30 years to sink Franco. He is freaking out.

Daniela and Sol are chatting about the sudden change of personality when Lily comes in, asking if anyone has seen Martin. No one has. Amanda comes in the set and asks Sol. She replies that she doesn’t know, since she’s not his mother. Lily (the producer) starts getting hysterical and goes out to find him.

Franco and Amanda head outside the channel when they see Gonzalo being thrown out of the van, and he’s all sad and injured. They bring him in, and Amanda asks Lily that they hold him until he’s feeling better. Lily ends up yelling at Alvaro and Charly because of her neurosis. The second heads to his dressing room as Daniela tries to dissimulate his wounds, both leaving when Franco and Amanda ask him to do so.

Daniela tells Sol that Martin is bruised, but she believes it’s part of a scam. Gonzalo sends it to hell and smokes a cigarette as he explains about a lady who got him into her car and started to accuse him. Their suspicions that it was Nuñez are proven right and they explain to her who she is. Franco has the easiness to lie so in him

It’s all chaos in the set, it’s time for the air (as Alvaro announces) and Sol tells Daniela they should call it all off (The makeup artist had been talking to a prop person). They go on the air as in the control is chaos. Diego is out on the field reporting about a flood and Martin starts interviewing her as Franco and Amanda talk about Nuñez. Gonzalo pulls off a speech worthy of any person as the rest is like WTF? Apparently this play of his made the rating go up in a record level. And he’s really inspired as phones ring…SE HIZO BOLA!! He fell, Sol tried to continue and everyone is behind him as he’s carried away. That shit’s crazy. Sol and Daniela comment about this, and how they should keep their mouths shut.

Of course, Tomas is worried so he calls Charly to find out how Martin is as Franco and Amanda are worried. Drama queen’s gonna have a heart attack.

Gonzalo wakes up in a bed and most likely that he has no idea what happened as there is a bunch of reporters waiting for him. He turns on the TV and sees everyone is talking about him. It’s incredible! As soon as he shows himself from the window, people cheer him. He calls Sergio, who is also watching it on TV, and Franco talks to Amanda.

At N news, Nuñez is still with her suspicions that there’s something wrong with Pells, and the fact that her assistant Juan says they led the rating for 10 minutes doesn’t help.

The following day, Diego and Lily fight about what he should do when Amanda bursts in, wanting to know who’s responsible for what happened to Martin’s chair, and for those purposes she will call everyone to her office for interrogation. Daniela immediately feels screwed. Meanwhile, Franco goes to meet with Nuñez at a restaurant to talk about if she’s behind the attempts against the life of Pells.

The prop guy Daniela had been talking to earlier threatens her because he could run out of a job, but she calms him down. Outside the hospital, Sol is facing the media.

Lily’s the first to endure Amanda’s hard interrogation, then Nacho, then Charly and so on. Back at the hospital, Martin/Gonzalo’s being pampered by Tomas when the door knocks. It’s Franco who informs them that they’ll spend the night together as the doctor comes in to remove the neck brace, but he doesn’t want to take it off just yet. Why? Because when he’s released, he throws it onto the air.

On the line, Daniela calls Sol to let her in the situation and she says she’ll be right there as the prop guy is inside Wedell’s office, and as soon as Amanda’s out, Daniela bursts in and talks to him to not blame her and even hands him money to let it go. Simultaneously, Sol and Martin arrive at the network and she’s like ‘no one’s gonna kill you today’. He’s scared when even Amanda comes to talk to him just to tell him Franco liked this little stunt. He wants to rest, but has to record a thank you spot with Sol. Then she goes back to continue to grill the prop guy, but she’s bored easily and asks him to leave.

Another day, another show. Don’t Mike and Carla (the actors who play Martin and Sol) are adorable together? Today they’re thanking the people for all their good gestures through his recovery process.

Tip seductor ad. Don’t you just love these infomercials and how they make fun of things? Although I’d buy some of them…The best thing is the gifts they add to it.

Sergio arrives to the dressing room with a beer, and both wonder what did Pells do to deserve the way the world treat him off stage. So he has to learn about the real Martin and how he was in the intimacy. Gonzalo goes to Franco’s office with a binder: He wants to state some conditions if he’s going to continue impersonating Pells. Franco’s wrong. This is not extortion. He wants Sergio as assistant, Sundays off to be himself, living with Sol, yes to sneakers, smoking room and others. Andrada says he’ll think about it since he isn’t quite convinced and that some things could break the contract. Gonzalo leaves and Franco calls Amanda and Ricardo.

Sadly, as he’s leaving, he overhears a conversation between Daniela and Sol about how, the day she got married, she signed a slavery contract, and how she would like nothing more than to sink Martin Pells.

You wanted news? Now you have them. Till next episode!

Nicodrina.
