[Recaps] White Collar Season 1 / Episode 2 - Threads

1x02: Threads

This episode starts with the buddies walking through NYC, and trying to flag a cab. Neal points out it's Fashion Week, so he just helps ladies that are digging his style get theirs. But Caffrey works his charm to get one.

At the FBI, Peter informs him that they're going after a man known as Ghovar. Neal immediately points out that this is the man known as 'The Ghost'. They are interrogating a model that was on a party in where The Ghost was at to. Seems it was really heavy, because there's a dead man. The model points out she will never forget the voice. Short credits, but cool anyway.

Matt Bomer looks hot, loving the style. That's how I like my guys in the morning. Neal has a crazy idea: Throw a party, since the Ghost likes pretty women and the good life. In that setting, they will lead him there and there's more chances of being identified. Peter takes the idea to his superior, and he takes it as a joke. But surprisingly, Peter stands up for him, and Neal seems super excited with the idea.

They're in a warehouse, looking for things to use. Neal grabs a watch that Peter could use, and that Elizabeth (that is helping them out) likes. There's food, drinks, a venue...and supermodels that can't resist Neal Caffrey's charm. This show mixes comedy and drama in balance. One of those models has a place where it could be held, much better than Peter's. Burke is in charge of the operation, as he lays his eyes on a pretty woman. Her name is Lauren Cruz, and she'll be sitting Caffrey on the night.

The party is in full swing, and everyone seems to be having a good time as the FBI watches from a van. Neal is with the woman they were interrogating earlier, and their attention is set on a man with red shirt known as Dmitri. Phone rings and he leaves, she notices what he's saying. The Ghost is here, and is watching them. Neal bumps into the guy to steal his phone as Lauren keeps him entertained. The Ghost is no one else but...Morris from '24'! :o. It's a small world. He leaves with a suspicion, depositing his phone in Dmitri's pocket. That way he can leave, and the FBI will be onto him. But the model says (and Neal tells Peter) they have the wrong guy.

The guy with the glasses that I still don't know his name tells Neal he's working on a solution with his tracker thing, and that he has to consider himself lucky for having the distance he has, because others haven't had it so easy. He is onto Kate, again and believes she has left to San Diego in search of stuff he kept there. A love letter hid an easy message.

At the FBI, Lauren is briefing them on the man that flew the party last night. I smell something between him and Lauren. Before heading for lunch, Neal asks Peter to see the tape of Kate's last visit 'for closure'. He'll see what he can do and goes to have a picnic in the park with Elizabeth, who gave him a watch as present. Nice one, but he has problems with looking at the time, lol!!.

Neal comforts the model now that he's being moved to Protective Custody when Caffrey informs him Dmitri is at a fashion shoot. He is uneasy, so Neal has a plan. Peter looks like Terminator with those sunglasses, as Neal talks to Dmitri and looks at the girl. He's not stupid, and they are escorted out.

An agent gets a lead after waiting for Ghovat to leave a building , and they find Dmitri dead in his apartment, suspecting it was Ghovat. Lauren is at the scene, alongside Neal and Peter, investigating. Later, Peter is interrogating a designer that is a suspect, since the dress found at the scene was his. But he's being used because Ghovat kidnapped his son to have him smuggle something in the dress found there. Looks like it was fake, and had something major hidden in there.

Morris (I'll refer to him as that) is talking to the designer as the FBI listens in and gives information they tell him to give. They are in a restaurant, and Neal is given a phone as Morris negotiates with him for the dress. Not working. Neal is accompanied by the curly model as Peter is with Lauren. A new development is given, and there's another call Caffrey takes: Morris has the girl, and he wants the dress.

This has to do with Burke, and he wants him to make the exchange: The real dress for the girl. Peter jokes that if he doesn't, will he have him eat the dress? It will be in Central Park the next day or so, and Neal asks to go along because he feels guilt over this. For now, he gets home to dinner with Elizabeth and the dog. She has another present: his old watch. (Off-record: Their dog is so cute!). She needs him to be a true agent and be home at 6 tomorrow.

The dress has a code inside that has to do with European currency, the black agent's name is Jones (found that out) will be with Lauren and Peter on the field. They left Neal out of this...but not for long. Sexy! Burke gets the call as he looks around. He makes signals that Cruz transmits. He has to friggin' run to a fountain in one minute. Run, Peter. Run! Please, that he has made it on time. Yes, they're there. Gulp! But...there is a catch. The model has an explosive strapped to her and he can activate it any minute. Neal has a plan: Have everyone call to overload the phone and prevent the bomb. Neal runs after him, but Lauren busts his ass! This chick has power. Seems the bomb Burke disabled was a joke, and everyone's safe :)

Neal is at his associate's den, looking at the tape of Kate at prison. Looking closer, he notices the word BOTTLE in morse code. So what does he do? Goes to get that bottle in order to find something that gives him a clue on where his lost love is at.

Great episode, bring on more! :)
