So this hour kicks off with the sight of Hassan's daughter going to visit her love in a holding room before being transported to an embassy. He tries to convince her into help him escape and for her to come with him. But their time is cut short and he is taken away and Kayla nods.
In the woods, Kevin finally died as Cole still tries CPR. Dana is doing everything she can to not get Ortiz involved in all this. As he said 'what's done is done'....Yay! President Taylor is back, baby! Hastings is briefing her and Weiss about the latest developments, and neither of them are happy with the mention of Farhad Hassan's name. Jack Bauer's name is enlisted for help as well, and Omar should be contacted to let him know. President Taylor walks out and Hastings informs that he won't press charges against Renee because there's something bigger at hand. Haha, Rob Weiss got mad with this.
What?? No more Bauer in a leather jacket? Boo :( . Now he's wearing the usual gray shirt and vest. He is in charge of the operation to extract Farhad safely...He calls them to see how far they are. The odds for Hassan don't seem too good. Anybody wants to bet whether he'll survive this hour?
Another one who returns after being MIA a couple of hours is Omar Hassan. President Taylor informs him that his brother has surrendered, and that people of covert intel are behind this potential attack. Omar finds this hard to believe and Taylor asks him to cooperate by handing over Intel for ID purposes. He seems reluctant at first, but eventually he gives in. Is it just me, or did Taylor want to cry as she pleaded??
The guy we saw at the start (whose name I don't remember) has something to break free from the cuffs and the vehicle in which he's been taken to his country's embassy. Another guy is telling him that it's unfair of Tariq (I think that was his name) being accused of treason...But at gunpoint, he threatens the driver and has them descend in the middle of NYC. Hassan has no luck communicating with them, and is this guy who calls Kayla who is leaving the U.N. building as he runs, dumping the van.
Farhad is still hiding, and as he is talking to Hastings he runs and is shot. See? Told you so! Simultaneously, Jack & Co. get off the van and start shooting. As it is usual in '24', the bad guy always leads to someone else above him saying 'it's done'...as they are in a diner! LOL! Jack demands the files, but suddenly they notice that Farhad enters a cardiac arrest...
Back at the U.N., Taylor is in videoconference with the big fishes of her administration and a specialist. These people brief her on the potential consequences of the attack baddies are planning to execute. In the same building, Hassan is informed that they found the guys, that Tariq escaped, and what pissed him off especially...that this guy spoke to his daughter!! Kayla arrives to the hotel and ignores her father's call. She certainly is happy to see this man, and they kiss. This can't last long.
I won, I won! Farhad didn't make it through this hour, and Jack has to brief Hastings & Co., and they work something out for the time being. I'm curious to see in which direction this takes us. Back on the outside, Dana and Cole dump Kevin's body in the river so that no one finds the body. I have a feeling this isn't the end.
In other news...Fox News (oh, what a coincidence! *eye roll* is informing that Farhad Hassan is in critical condition. We all know that this is a set-up, but the bad guys get a hold of this information. Mmm...something's fishy. A guy that is guarding the rods finds nothing smarter than to call his mother and tells her to leave the city for her safety. The kid knows something's up, and this is indication he'll be dead in no time.
Farhad's body is being transported, and sadly, Allison Taylor is faced with the difficult task of telling President Hassan that his brother is dead, and tells him the U.N. needs to be evacuated. But Omar says he's not leaving...because his daughter is missing and the rest we all know. Taylor is shocked, and offers to help. But he refuses and there's a moment of support between them.
Bauer is in the hospital now, and Chloe is in CTU using facial recognition software to identify any suspect. He gets a call from Renee saying she is free to go (aw, it's her first appearance in this episode. Too little) Outside, the kid that was speaking to his mom earlier...turns out he is a suicide bomber!! Chloe spots that he has something that looks like a trigger in his hand (his name is Marcus, or something like that). The kid's description is handed out to Agent Owen as Chloe struggles to find the detonator. The kid uses the bomb he has strapped as threat, disarms the guy and demands to be taken to where Farhad is at. Uh-oh, I smell trouble!
Aboard a jet, Hassan's wife receives a call from her husband. She is pissed at him, but they leave it aside because it's their daughter the one in danger. Omar asks her to call Kayla and try reaching her. She will, but not for Omar's sake. In CTU, they see Owen leading the kid with the remote in hand to Farhad's room and Jack & Co. following close behind. They must get the kid to show the vest in camera. Someone will be in risk soon. It's on sight, and they must work really hard to get the data we need. '24' is getting better by the moment, folks. The good things start when they manage to disarm the vest and he takes out a gun and starts shooting Farhad's body, not knowing he was dead already. Bullets run out and Jack breaks in, encouraging him to calm down and catch him. But the kid jumps out the window and runs until he locks himself in a pressure chamber with Bauer following close behind (Congrats to Kiefer's good shape by doing these stunts) He calls the bad guys and tells them what happened, and they will help him set up the vest. Jack tries to get to him, but the kid uses a bar to disable the cameras (that made him look REALLY creepy at the end)
So that's it for this hour. Bring in the next, the clock is ticking!! Until later.
