Part two of this special. I'm in shock, what can I say? Suspense, drama and a last minute twist. Let's get this show on the road!
I want to start with CTU New York. As we all expected, Dana Walsh (or whatever her name is) was caught. At first, she tried convincing the guard to let her out when her access was denied. So what better way to clear her records than getting into Hasting's office? It all reminded me of Season 1, it was a carbon copy of Nina Myers' escape, shootout included, major arrest and an angry Cole that would've shot her sorry ass if Hastings and the guards haven't arrived. I actually felt sorry for Agent Ortiz, because at the start of the season they were so much in love and stuff. Jack felt his pain as he saw her being interrogated.
Dana is such a bitch that she DEMANDS that the only person that she'll talk to is Jack. So as soon as Mr. Bauer gets in, Brian explains him the situation and he enters, being the badass he always is. She cuts the usual 'I want immunity' speech in exchange for Hassan, and that she wants Jack to run the show (I wonder what's up her sleeve). Cole is outraged when he finds out she has temporary immunity, but has no choice but to suck it up and be part of the assault team, alongside Jack and Renee. Also Chloe and Arlo comment on how neither of them can believe she was working with the terrorists from the inside.
Connected to this is President Taylor, who is briefed by Tim about all this as she pays Ethan a visit at the hospital. I still substain my theory that there's a little something there, and she's glad he's OK and that, regardless of his situation, is concerned on the current affairs. The Russian Premier pays a visit at the begining of the hour, that reminds us that, without Hassan there's no agreement. And to add to it all, she has to be in charge of informing the wife and daughter.
Omar Hassan is the highest point this hour, those who watched it know why. He's in the hands of terrorists now, as he is dragged out to the blue car to an apartment by a man and the wig woman. Seems the terrorist in charge knew Omar from the past and wants nothing more than to have him pay for his crimes. So he broadcasts it for the world to see (both Taylor and CTU are watching this low-quality video feed of the tortured President). As Jack, Cole and Renee arrive to the apartment (information given by Dana), tension starts to arise by the second, because the stakes are very high. Another kill for Walker when she realized wig lady had a hidden gun. But the terrorists were too smart and this was pre-recorded...because when Jack arrived, Hassan was dead. I really felt like crying when they find it, because Bauer and Walker look broken when having to inform everyone the sad news. Even worse when President Taylor had to do the same to Dahlia and Kayla. Of course, everybody is shocked and the hour closes with a well-deserved silent clock.
That was totally unexpected. Back to old-school '24', and judging by the preview for episode 17...things are totally looking up to lead up to an epic finale. And it better be a good amound of Emmys this year.
The clock keeps on ticking, till next recap! :)
