2x09: Point Blank
Since this is the summer finale of the series, we have a 'Previously on...' first.
With that out of the way, we start with Neal and Peter on the street, on their way to see Mozzie (and the music box). Neal puts the key on the slot and they set the box in motion, recording its sound to see if it corresponds to a code. The suit takes the box, the conman the key.
The code of the box is very old, and both box and key were together before its theft. Alex had it, but there might be something else that she is hiding. But as far as I know, she's in Italy. Burke and Diana are talking about the box and Fowler, and how Caffrey is taking all this information. There's a claim that is the first signal in ages, but for now, Diana keeps the box in a safe.
Moz and Neal go seeing a man who is an acquaintance of both. He has something that looks like a goblet that (I don't know if it's why I've done too many recaps in a row or what) it's part of a collection that could take him to Alex. And he'll have to con the FBI for this. Credit sequence.
The two friends are talking about Peter's expression 'back to usual business'. He knows Peter will get to it by himself (the case of the theft), just as June comes in. She'll be out of town for a few days, so he'll have to walk the dog. After that off-topic moment, they go step by step descriptions on how many processes a report has to go through before Peter. Oh, and they did take all the precautions.
I love the Burke's dog, by the way. I say this because Burke gets home to his wife and chinese food. She's even helping him choose a case. And, as planned, he has shown interest in it.
The next day, Peter arrives saying he's got a new case of silver heists. These seem to have a history, and so far everything is working at his favor. Parallel to this, Diana and Peter are out following Fowler, and he's nearby because of a money withdrawal. (Extra points to Jones humming Batman). Fowler is using an alias, and he has just bought explosives. Both doubt whether they tell Neal about the whole thing.
Mozzie messes around with a keyboard as he's still trying every code known to man that could match it to the music box codes. He knows someone in the antique business that could be useful. In a rooftop, Alex and Neal meet up as she's trying to steal something. I think this scene is quite sexy on the rooftop, the skyline...My kinda thing. Anyways, he used everyone he knew to get to her. He could get the target off her back if she helps him get the music box out of Diana's apartment, and then giving it to the right owner. Okay, he's got ME charmed.
Fowler has become a priority, and Diana is going to work at home...sabotaging his plans. With the two of them alone, he shows them the receipts of the explosives used on Kate's death explosion... See?! THAT'S why they call it CRACKberry. Alex gets her hands on the box, but Diana has come home. THIS should be interesting. She realizes that someone broke in and took the box. Immediately, she tells Peter about this, but Caffrey says he didn't do it.
The next day, the return of the music box is on the news. They will be hosting a private showcase before it's taken back to Russia. Peter will go, leaving the conman out of this one, much to his dismay. Mozzie goes to visit his friend in the business to see if he can help. That place is full of creepy stuff. Neal joins him and tells him about his bad luck, Fowler and everything else in between. The two will split the code, but Neal sees a gun and takes it. He's out for revenge against Fowler.
Diana brings Peter a blueprint of the building and asks that Neal be monitored at all times. Next, we see them undercover. Caffrey is at home, getting ready in one of those suits that drive me nuts, the dog as only company. He has the gun, an invitation, and is ready to go...minus the tracker. Cute dog, by the way!
Both agents stil wait as they see Fowler arrive and Diana lowers her head (remember that last time he shot her). Peter says he will be onto him, and uses the badge to get inside. It's quite shady this cat and mouse game they're playing. With the spot, Fowler runs off, trying to escape. The door is jammed.
Mozzie says he's got some developments, and only finds the dog with the tracker on (poor thing!), so he has to swallow his pride and call 'The suit' to tell him that he tampered it, and that he's a gun. He's onto something stupid, so as they try to get Fowler, Diana will go after Neal. Through the window he's seen him, so as fast as he can runs up the stairs, losing everybody and finding a non-traditional way to get there. But they've spotted him, and the gun was changed for a knife. They think he's cornered, but Caffrey does it again. What a genius! The plan was to get inside Fowler's room.
Wow, this is heating up! He's got the gun aimed, and has all the intention to kill him for what he did to Kate. If only Peter and Diana hasn't barged. Fowler says he didn't do it, and that he better pull that trigger. Burke is trying to talk him out of doing it. But he's so screwed up emotionally that he gives up the gun and ends up cuffed and taken back to the office, same as Fowler.
Fowler says he was a lot like Peter when he had a career and a life. He says somebody else told him to kill Kate, and that apart from that call, he has a video. But who is this person? If he gives him/her away, he could recover at. The picture and the explosives say it was her idea, and that project Mentor does exist. Somebody here is pulling the strings like a professional.
Neal is told to go home. There, he's thoughtful and sad, counting bullets, drinking wine and having moments of anger fists. Peter says he doesn't know what to do with Fowler, but the day he took the data off his office he had a meeting with someone. And regarding the mystery person in the pictures, it's a man named Julian Larsson, according to Fowler.To make it worse, Diana comes in to say NYPD reported an homicide in the antique shop. With both in the crime scene, they hear the music box recording, the word 'Eureka', and that Neal is the next target.
WHAAAAAAAT?! Alex?!
Both him and Diana try calling him, but he doesn't pick it up. Their conversation revolves around the music box, and I think the Feds blew it, thinking she was going to take out a gun. Just a minor misunderstanding, but they tell Neal about the antique shop murder, and that he wasn't alone.
Mozzie is at the park, clearly enjoying a tea when this Larsson person shoots him, and then pretends to help him out before leaving him in the bench, bleeding out. HO-LY SHIT!
I seriously cannot believe that twist. And even worse that I have to wait until January 2011 to see what happens. So that's it with 'White Collar' for now. Next, 'Covert Affairs'. Au revoir...for now.
